Subject: Translators needed for Amazing Audio MP3 Recorder Contact E-mail: amazingaudiomp3recorder@stereomatch.com If you feel that users will like the app in your language, then please help translate it into your language. Instead of giving a list of strings to be translated, below we explain the buttons and what the strings should convey. As a translator you can just type in the translation below each phrase, and we will clean it up i.e. extract the appropriate phrase from it. We will probably also check it with Google Translate to ensure that the phrases are in the correct order etc. So you should not worry too much about making it neat. Below we give an explanation of each button and what gets spoken in different situations. We will focus only on the buttons, and the TalkBack feedback that is spoken. Translators can just add the translated text below the English phrases below, and e-mail that to the contact e-mail above. We will pick out that information and organize it as needed. Some general things to keep in mind when translating the longer text for buttons. We have tried to make the button speak the shortest possible thing that identifies it as a user is swiping across the button in TalkBack. So for example for the Run App 1 2 3 buttons on the right edge. We speak the number 1 first, then we speak the a better description Run Application 1, and then after that we give more information like which app this button will run, and then add that they can change this in Settings. Usually TalkBack users will know how to stop TalkBack from speaking, either by swiping across to some other button, or by waving their hands over the proximity sensor. So the Run App 1 button says: 1, Run Application 1, ABCD, use Set App option in Settings to change For now we will just translate the most used app strings. However we also have the FAQ and Help for Blind Users - and those are longer texts which we hope to translate as well. So starting with the application name: Amazing Audio MP3 Recorder The application name will be the same as the English one for most languages. However some languages or regions may prefer a name that is localized. Like Spanish, Portuguese or Arabic, Japanese, Chinese or Russian. Most European countries will be ok with an English name. So perhaps the translator can give us their opinion about whether they think keeping the name in English is fine for their language, or whether a language-specific name would be better suited. The app name should fit within 30 characters. Examining the Counter area on screen. This shows the duration for Recording and Playing. However, unlike other apps, it does not show zeros when recording is stopped. Instead it shows Amazing Audio as text for sighted users - this helps distinguish it immediately from other states - since with a counter a user would have to wait a second to be sure the counter is not counting. When stopped the counter says instead of saying just stopped, it says: Not Recording or Playing Which we think is cognitively clearer than saying Stopped. Anyway, so what would be a good translation for Amazing Audio - it should probably be consistent with the full app name used above. If nothing comes to mind, we can just use the English version. Counter: The counter speaks not just time, but also recording state for TalkBack users. These are spoken when TalkBack users swipe across the Counter area: Recording Paused Playing Not Recording or Playing Recording stopped Unable to Record - Recording failed for some reason The Recording also says the total recording time so far. And for Playing it says the time elapsed and the time remaining. For example for Recording it might say: Recording 2 seconds 1 clip And for Playing the counter may say: Playing 5 seconds with 2 seconds remaining Here the clip indicates the number of times the recording was Paused and then resumed minus 1 or basically how many segments were recorded. This may not be of much practical use but it helps distinguish the display from Playing where just the counter is shown without clips. Some users may find that knowing the clips gives them a sense of how many times the proximity sensor was triggered of if the recording was paused. For now we will just translate the Recording, Playing part and maybe say the seconds and minutes for the duration in English. So for the Counter we will need translation for these phrases: Recording Paused Playing Not Recording or Playing Recording stopped Unable to Record - Recording failed for some reason Buttons: The Record, Pause, Stop and Play buttons say different things depending on whether we are recording, paused or stopped etc. These are designed to tell the current state, and also what will happen if you press that button. We felt that cognitively it will give a better feel for what the app is doing with the least amount of thinking for the user: We will need translations for the phrases below - there are 4 states, and 4 phrases for each for a total of 16 phrases: When recording, this is what the Record, Pause, Stop and Play buttons speak in TalkBack: Record, already Recording Pause, pause Recording Stop, stop Recording Play, stop Recording and Play When paused, this is what they say: Record, resume Recording Pause, resume Recording Stop, stop paused Recording Play, stop paused Recording and Play When stopped, this is what they say: Record, start New Recording Pause, already Stopped Stop, already Stopped Play, Play last Recording When playing, this is what they say: Record, stop Playing and start New Recording Pause, cannot Pause Playing Stop, Stop Playing Play, already Playing If you have headset plugged into your device, you can use the headset button to Record, Pause or Stop, by using single click, double click or long press using just that single button. After you do that, a Toast message is shown on screen to indicate what happened. This Toast message gets spoken by TalkBack also - which will not affect your recording since a headset is attached and audio is going to headset. We will need translations for each of the 4 states of recording - for each state there will be 3 phrases for the 3 ways the headset button can be pressed - for a total of 12 phrases: These phrases are spoken when you press Record, Pause or Stop button sequence when in Recording state: Already Recording Paused Recording Stopping Recording when in Paused state: Resuming Recording Resuming Recording Stopping Paused Recording when in Stopped state: New Recording Already Stopped, Cannot Pause Already Stopped when in Playing state: Stop Play and New Recording Playing, cannot Pause Playing Stopped This gets spoken when user presses back button: We will need translations for this 1 phrase: Press again to exit When you swipe across the Recordings folder, it not only says that it is the Recordings Folder, but the currently chosen file manager. The Phone Call Recordings folder button above the Folder button on bottom-right shows the phone call recordings. The Cloud Folder button shows the recordings that were moved to the cloud folder. We will need translations for these 3 phrases: Recordings Folder, This runs the ABCD to view your recordings Cloud Folder, This runs the ABCD to view the recordings that were moved to the Cloud folder Phone Call Folder, This runs the ABCD to view the recordings made by the Call Recorder where ABCD is replaced by the file manager name - for example Total Commander File Manager etc. NOTE: keep the ABCD in there so we know where the file manager's name should go in that language The Run App 1 2 3 button on the right edge of the screen. These buttons can be set to run any of your installed apps. If they are not set they will speak: We will need translations for this 1 phrase: Not set yet If they are set then they will say the number first so user can quickly know which of the buttons it is, and then after a comma a more detailed explanation is spoken: 1, Run Application 1, ABCD, use Set App option in Settings to change where ABCD is replaced by the real app name NOTE: keep the ABCD in there so we know where the app name should be placed for that language Notifications Always On button - this button when ON will always show notifications in the notifications area at the top, even when recording is stopped. This button can be ON or OFF, and speaks different things when ON or OFF. We will need translations for these two phrases one for ON and one for OFF: Always On Notifications is ENABLED, Notification shown all the time Always On Notifications is DISABLED, Notification only shown while recording Ear Detect button - this button turns ON the ability to trigger recording with the proximity sensor. If you swipe across the Ear Detect button on the left side of the screen, it will tell you the state. The Ear Detect feature can be turned off using Menu - Settings also - so the Ear Detect can be disabled because of that. Or some tablet devices can have no proximity sensor - in that case also Ear Detect will be disabled. We will need translations for these 4 different phrases - the first two are for when Ear Detect is disabled, and the second two phrases are for when Ear Detect is off and on using the button on the main screen: Ear Detect DISABLED in Settings (turn on in Settings) Ear Detect DISABLED. No Proximity Sensor found. Try this app on a phone. Tablets lacking phone capability do not have a Proximity Sensor Ear Detect DISABLED. Tap to enable Ear Detect ENABLED. Pause Away from Ear setting is ON Pause Away from Ear setting is OFF NOTE: the Pause Away from Ear setting refers to a setting in Menu - Settings. This is on by default, but if you turn this off, then moving phone away from ear makes recording stop instead of just pause. So if you are using Ear Detect, and Pause Away from Ear setting is off, then each time you move phone to ear and then away, it will create a separate file. The Effects button on the bottom-left speaks out it's state if you swipe over it. It tells you if you have disable all effects using the Disable Effects button, or if it is on, but all effects are in their default or off state. And the third phrase tells you that Ear Detect is on, and some one or more of the effects is different than the default setting. We will need translations for these 3 phrases: Effects DISABLED, Tap to enable Effects ENABLED, Tap to show effects, all effects are OFF Effects ENABLED, Tap to show effects, some effects are ON Now coming to what happens when you click on the Effects, Action or Menu buttons - an overlay appears which is a vertical column of a darker color on which you have additional buttons. You can think of it like a drawer opening which appears instantly. Within the vertical column the blank areas can be clicked to dismiss the overlay. If you click on the buttons on the overlay then those actions are taken. When you click on Effects button or Action on last recording button - then an overlay appears on the left edge with effects buttons Volume, Equalizer, Pitch on it. A Toast message is spoken by TalkBack: We will need translation of this 1 phrase: Swipe up to find buttons. Back to return. When you click on Action on last recording on the bottom-right, the same thing is spoken. However, when you press Ringtone button which is the top-most button on the actions overlay, then a new Ringtone overlay appears over the action overlay - and this shows the Ringtone, Notification, Alarm buttons. And since your finger is at the top of the screen, the Toast now says you should swipe down to find the new buttons: We will need translation of this 1 phrase: Swipe down to find buttons. Back to return. When an overlay appears - apart from the buttons there, if you click on any empty area on the overlay it will remove the overlay and TalkBack will say "Hiding Buttons": We will need translation of this 1 phrase: Hiding buttons If you click on the Effects button on the bottom-left, it shows an overlay column on the left edge with the Effects buttons - Disabled Effects, Volume, Equalizer, Pitch. The Disable Effects button is provided so a user can quickly disable all effects for example if they need to record an interview etc. If you click on Disable Effects, the Effects button on the main screen gets a red bar or cross across it showing that Effects are disabled. On the Effects overlay the other buttons Volume, Equalizer, and Pitch show an additional overlay which is full screen and allows you to change volume etc. When the on screen Ear Detect button changes state from ON to OFF or OFF to ON this is spoken: We will need translations for these 2 phrases: Effects DISABLED Effects ENABLED On the Effects overlay the Disable Effects button is spoken this way: Disable Effects The Volume, Equalizer and Pitch effect buttons not only speak their name, but also tell you if they are set to the default setting, or if it has been changed from default - for example Volume would say Volume, is off if it is set to default. And would say Volume, 10 to tell you it is set to 10. We will need translations of these 9 phrases: Disable Effects Volume, is off Volume Equalizer, is off Equalizer Pitch, is off Pitch Vocoder, is off Vocoder If these words are too specialized i.e. have no equivalent in the language, then we can just keep them in English. The Effects - Volume, and Effects - Pitch, and Effects - Equalizer screens have a Back button so you can come back to the app. We will need translations for this 1 phrase: Back The Menu button on bottom-left is spoken as: Menu When you click on Menu button on bottom-left, an overlay column appears on left edge of screen which has a number of buttons on it that are spoken as. We will need translations for these 10 phrases: Menu Settings Help Topics Themes Store Donate Rate our app Our other apps Facebook Share Email Feedback These buttons also have some text written next to each icon, to make it helpful for sighted users. This text is not spoken by TalkBack, but it would be nice to get a translation - these are the same words as in the phrases above - but since they have to be not too wide on screen to avoid overlapping the Record button etc., therefore these should be the short version. For example instead of using Email Feedback, we are using Contact here because it is shorter: We will need translations for these 9 phrases: Settings Help Themes Store Donate Rate Apps Share Contact NOTE: these may be specialized words - so for some languages we can just choose to keep these in English. We leave this up to the translater's judgement. The Action on last recording button on bottom-right is spoken this way: Action, on last recording, show buttons Rename Trash Favorites Cloud Share Ringtones Basically, when you press the Action on last recording button, a vertical overlay appears on the right edge of the screen - which contains the Rename, Trash, Favorites, Cloud, Share, Ringtone buttons: We will need translations for these 7 phrases for the buttons there: Action, on last recording, show buttons Rename Trash Favorites Cloud Share Ringtones Rename, rename last recording Trash, move last recording to Trash sub-folder Favorites, move last recording to Favorites sub-folder Cloud, move last recording to Cloud folder Share, share last recording Ringtone, use last recording as ringtone notification or alarm sound Going into more detail into these buttons, when you click on Action on last recording - and then click Rename this will show dialog box which has an edit text where the filename is shown and you can edit it. The title of the dialog box is "Rename", and it has some text below that which says "Rename filename": We will need translations for these 2 phrases: Rename Rename filename: After you have entered a new filename and press OK, the file will be renamed. Toast messages are shown on screen to tell you the status of the renaming operation: If the filename already exists it will say: Filename entered already exists. If you used some invalid characters in the filename, it will say: Filename entered contains some invalid characters. If there was an error in renaming, a Toast message will say: Error in renaming. If there is no recording available on which to apply Action on last recording: Record something first If file is successfully renamed: Successfully renamed to: ABCD where ABCD is the new file name We will need translations for these 5 phrases from above: Filename entered already exists. Filename entered contains some invalid characters. Error in renaming. Record something first Successfully renamed to: ABCD NOTE: keep the ABCD in the last phrase above to indicate where the filename should be placed in that language If you press Action on last recording - and then Share, a dialog box appears which has title: We will need translations for these 1 phrases: Share Recording And a Toast message appears which says that you should choose the app you want to share with: We will need translations for these 1 phrases: Choose App If you swipe over the Action on last recording button on bottom-right, then this is spoken. A Toast message is shown on screen to indicate the status of that file movement: If there is no information on the last recording available it will say: We will need translations for this 1 phrase: Record something first Otherwise the buttons will say things like "Moved last recording to Trash sub-folder": We will need translations for these 9 phrases: Moved last recording to Trash sub-folder Already in Trash sub-folder Could not move to Trash sub-folder Moved last recording to Favorites sub-folder Already in Favorites sub-folder Could not move to Favorites sub-folder Moved last recording to Cloud sub-folder Already in Cloud sub-folder Could not move to Cloud sub-folder If you click on the Ringtone button on the actions overlay, it further shows an overlay with Ringtone, Notification, Alarm buttons, these are spoken by TalkBack as: We will need translatons for these 3 phrases: Ringtone, make last recording the ringtone sound Notification, make last recording the notification sound Alarm, make last recording the alarm sound The Ringtone overlay buttons are text only buttons with this text in them: We will need translatons for these 3 phrases: Ringtone Notification Alarm When you click on Ringtone, and then clicked on the Ringtone, Notification or Alarm buttons which appear, this will show a confirmation dialog box that asks you if you are sure you want to change ringtone etc. We will need translations for these 12 phrases: Ringtone Set recording as ringtone Are you sure you want to change ringtone sound ? Ringtone has been set Notification Set recording as notification Are you sure you want to change notification sound ?
